2012 mazda cx 5

The Mazda CX-5 is Mazda's first car from the '6th generation' vehicles to be launched across the globe starting December 2011. Featuring an all new platform, design language, engines and transmissions (SkyActiv technologies), this car is Mazda's answer to the Compact Crossover SUV segment. It will be officially unveiled at the September 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The CX-5 is said to have revolutionary powertrain with record breaking fuel economy due to 14:1 compression ratios for both the petrol and diesel engines. Mazda is replacing its entire lineup with the SkyActiv Engine. No specs are released yet but sources claim that the CX-5 will be able to obtain 30/40 street/highway MPG.
According to Masashi Nakayama, Chief Designer of the concept, "I felt a compact SUV was the perfect vehicle to express agility and focused movement; the flexibility of four limbs moving in unison, and in an upright posture."
When the CX-5 does launch in December 2011, it is expected to first be available with Mazda’s new 2.0-liter direct-injection engine that will join the Mazda lineup later this year in the Mazda3.
